Gross National Happiness

In recent times, Bhutan has caught the attention of the world with its development philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH), which is a more balanced approach to development and takes into account both material and non-material values such as the environment, culture and spiritual wellbeing.
To operationalise the concept, GNH screening tools have been developed and are applied to test whether policies and projects fit into the GNH framework.
